Love Divine, All Loves Excelling is one of Charles Wesley’s most well loved hymns (and he wrote more than 6000!). And yet in a lot of churches the original second verse is never sung, so the hymn moves straight from Christ’s coming to the experience of heavenly glory. We have courageously, but we hope respectfully, re-written the second verse
to focus on the experience of the Christian life prior to the heavenly experience. In the process we have also updated some of the language and added a new tune. This closing song draws together all the themes of this album.
